Prepping for #PitMad (#IWSG)
Thursday I’ll be pitching my time travel romance, Vanishing, Inc., in #PitMad. What, you ask, is PitMad? It’s a pitch party on Twitter, in which unagented authors like yours truly try to distill their magnum opuses into a 280-character tweet in the hope of attracting an agent’s attention.
And I thought writing a query letter was hard.
Fortunately, there’s lots of great advice out there for PitMad virgins like me. I’ll share the most useful tips I found, but first:
This post is part of the Insecure Writers Support Group monthly blog hop. On the first Wednesday of each month, I and my fellow insecure writers post something related to writing, and then we visit the blogs of our fellow members and read and comment on their IWSG posts. This month’s optional question, which I’m not answering, is, For how long do you shelve your first draft, before reading it and re-drafting? Is this dependent on your writing experience and the number of stories/books under your belt?
Now, back to the PitMad advice, which I’m dividing into 2 sections: How to craft your Twitter pitch, and tips for participating in Twitter pitch parties.
How to craft a Twitter pitch for your book

- Crafting the Perfect Twitter Pitch – from DIY MFA

I should give it a try. I’m like you though, writing a synopsis is hard enough. If I was meant to write brilliant short pieces, I would. Happy IWSG day, Janet.
