Anniversary, nominated for an award, new Facebook page, other odds and ends (Weekend Coffee Share #6)
Good morning and happy Friday! Welcome to the Weekend Coffee Share, hosted by Natalie the Explorer! Come on in, pull up a seat, and join me. It’s starting to feel like fall here in Tucson. We’re still having triple-digit temps (it’s Arizona), but the nights are cooler, and this morning we even have clouds. The featured image on this post was taken a few days ago outside my building at work. Everything is still so green and pretty from the monsoon rains.
30 years! How is that even possible?
Today’s chat will be a quick roundup of odds and ends, because I’m leaving soon for a weekend trip to Bisbee, Arizona, with the hubster to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Bisbee is an old copper mining town, and we’re going to stay in a haunted hotel. I’ll share pics at next weekend’s coffee share.
Honestly, I”m still trying to get my head around the idea that we’ve been married for 30 years. Aren’t we still in our 20s? Apparently not.
New Janet Alcorn Facebook page
In anticipation of my short story coming out on the Storyteller Series podcast (spoiler alert: it’s not up yet), I created an author Facebook page. If, like me, you’ve sold your soul (and given away your data) to the Zuck, stop by and hit that Like button. I’m happy to return the favor if you have a page.
Matthew Schwartz book signing
In-person events are coming back little by little. Last weekend I poked my head into Barnes and Noble, because a fellow member of the Arizona Authors Association and the Old Pueblo Chapter of Sisters in Crime was signing books.
Matthew Schwartz is the author of Confessions of an Investigative Reporter. I’m about a third of the way through my signed copy, and it’s wonderful. So far he’s interviewed the Son of Sam killer, gotten the finger from a pissed-off (and slimy) trainer at a greyhound track, and gotten into all sorts of other trouble by questioning the powerful and entitled. Great stuff.
I’m excited to get out to more signings to support my fellow authors and discover, buy, and read lots of great books.

Congratulations on your anniversary and I hope those temperatures ease. We are on our way to Summer here in Australia and I prefer days with NOT (in fahrenheit) triples figures. Denyse #weekendcoffeeshare

Hi Janet, congrats on 30 years, it seems to rush by at times doesn’t it? Enjoy your weekend away and it’s good to read that things are returning to some form of normalcy in your part of the world. here is Australia it’s still a bit of a mess waiting for everyone to get their vaccines. Hi, Debbie, thanks for stopping by! Things aren’t really normal here—too many unvaccinated people getting sick—but we’re vaccinated and being careful. So many people though are acting like there never was a pandemic. And yeah, time goes way too fast, and it seems like it goes faster with every passing year.

Happy Anniversary! 3o years! Wow! That truly tis something to celebrate. I hope the haunted hotel isn’t too scary. I had lunch at a haunted hotel once, that was enough for me. I hope your weekend is wonderful.

Thanks! We survived our night with no ghost sightings, but the hotel is more than a little creepy. The whole town is a little creepy in a good way, a fun way. It would make a great setting for a vampire western.

It sounds like it! I have never been that far South in AZ.

30 years? Ah – to be that young again. . .
Let me know when you make it 40+. That’s where we are and it’s weird.
Exactly when did that happen? I don’t recall approving this.
But congrats – I’ll take it as you two must have something great going on.
Janet Alcorn
We do! And thanks!
