    May Mayhem: Michigan and More

    May 27, 2023 /

“Where’ve you been?” “We’ve missed you.” “Are you even still alive?” OK, no one has actually said any of that to me, but let me pretend someone noticed I haven’t been blogging in a couple of weeks. I have an excellent array of excuses, though, otherwise known as my May calendar. But before we get into an illustrated account of why I didn’t blog in May: This post is part of the Weekend Coffee Share, hosted by Natalie the Explorer, and What’s Been on Your Calendar, hosted by  Sue, Debbie, Donna, and Jo. So have a seat, grab a treat, and let’s get to it. The Day Job If you read my April…

Cabin with orange-tan walls, redwood-colored trim, and a porch with 2 white chairs, trees behind and 2 garden beds in front

Long-Suffering Husband and I spent a lovely long weekend in a cabin in Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona, walking in the woods, exploring the area, and being away from work, chores, and other adult annoyances. We also took tons of pictures, which I’ll share over at least the next couple of weeks. This week’s post will be brief, because I have all-day work commitments on the days I usually blog, and I’ll be too exhausted afterwards to string words together. OK, enough whining. Welcome to the Weekend Coffee Share, hosted by Natalie the Explorer! Grab a treat, take a seat, and let’s get to it.

    #CBWC: Wispy water

    April 9, 2021 /

This week’s entry for Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge was taken on a rainy Black Friday in 2007. I’d always wanted to learn how to get this ribbony effect when taking pictures of running water, so I decided to teach myself. This picture is one of my earliest attempts.

#CMMC: New Year’s Eve at the Grand Canyon

    January 27, 2021 /

Cee has created a new photo challenge! Can you tell I love photo challenges? This one is Cee’s Midweek Madness Challenge (CMMC), and this week’s theme is, words ending in W. I went for the obvious winter choice, SNOW. I’ve told the story of my first trip to the Grand Canyon on this blog before–recently, in fact, in my New Years Time Travel post late last month, so I won’t repeat it so soon. I will say that winter is a wonderful time to visit the Canyon. The North Rim is closed in the winter, but the more popular South Rim is open year-round (assuming the roads are passable, and…
