Rock and Roll Rosebud (#FOTD)

It’s literally sunshine and roses in my garden right now.

We don’t really have fall color here in Tucson. I’m a little jealous when I see other bloggers posting beautiful photos of red and yellow fall leaves, but then I remember that I won’t have to shovel snow or endure 6 months of rain, and I stop complaining. Now that the weather has cooled off here in Satan’s Anus, the garden is perking up, the tomatoes are threatening to eat the house, and the roses are blooming like crazy.

For Cee’s Flower of the Day photo challenge, meet Rock and Roll, one of our favorite striped roses (Of course we would have a rose named Rock and Roll. Would you expect anything less?) We’ve carted it around with us from Southern California to Flagstaff, and now here to Tucson. It pouted most of the summer, but now it’s thriving.

See other flower of the day pix here.

How about y’all? What’s happening in your garden?

Considering I have a brown thumb, nothing which is one of the reasons I leave the area natural. I love your rose. My grandmother had an actual black rose sent to her from Scotland. It looked like black velvet when it bloomed. It died within a week of her death, so I guess they were connected somehow. (just gave you an idea of a story…lol)

A beautiful photo of a gorgeous flower. In our garden right now, this very minute, it is snowing and sleeting. We haven’t raked all our leaves yet, so I’m pretty much looking at a mulch-y mess out there.

I feel for you. Until last fall, I lived in snow country. It has its charms, but soggy leaves under snow is not one of them.

When you say “cooled off”, what does that actually mean? For instance, this morning it was a very pleasant 23C/ when I woke up. That might sound horrible, but for months it was 30C/86F at 6am in the morning. And humid! Enjoy fall.

Our highs are now in the upper 80sF. Around here, if it isn’t triple digits, it’s cooled off. And I hear you about the morning temperatures. Sometimes in the summer overnight lows are over 80 here.
